Research Facility Halle

The research facility of the academy of Leipzig is located in Halle. Its central area of interest consists of the federal states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia

Main task of the research facility of the Saxon academy of science is the edition of the inscriptions of Saxony, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt of the middle-ages and the early modern times up to the year of 1650. The “Leipziger Reihe” (Leipzig Series) features the following publications: “Die Inschriften des Landkreises Weißenfels”, collected and edited by Franz Jäger, published in 2005. Then „Die Inschriften des Altkreises Querfurt“, collected and edited by Ilas Bartusch, in 2006. In the year 2009 followed: „Die Inschriften der Stadt Halberstadt – Dom und Domschatz“,collected and edited by Hans Fuhrmann (Band 62, 64 and 75 of the complete works). Currently in work in progress are: „Die Inschriften der Stadt Halle“ and „Die Inschriften der Stadt Magdeburg“. A photography archive and an index of inscriptions are gradually enlarged goes along with the progress of the printed inscription volumes.
